CERTIFIED MEDICATION TECHNICIAN (CMT) TRAINING PROGRAM
The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program prepares individuals for employment as a CMT in intermediate care or skilled nursing facilities. This program teaches the skills needed to safely administer non-parenteral medications under the supervision of licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or registered nurses (RNs), enabling students to assist with medication therapy in healthcare settings.
About the Certified Medication Technician Training Program
The CMT training course is a 20-hour program designed for individuals who wish to administer medications in home care or assisted living environments under the supervision of a registered nurse. Students will learn:
- The role and responsibilities of a Med Tech, CMT, or medication technician
- Safe and accurate medication administration
- Medication uses, responses, interactions, and proper documentation
- Observing, reporting, and recording physical and behavioral changes related to medication administration
- Medication routes of administration
- Proper medication storage
